The laboratory of malware identified first Adometry new advertising diversion of scheme delivery method and the malicious software in November 2010. Rather than requiring a user to download malware via a fake anti-virus program, the malware injects the rootkit from the user's computer through an ad on a popular website or simply when a browser visits a particular website. Once it successfully infects the computer, malicious software receives instructions from a host to perform several types of advertising fraud, including the diversion of research, display advertising impression inflation and a fraud video advertising. The attacks are carried out as follows:
Thediversion of research - when a user enters an organic search term, the malicious software program re-directs the browser through different advertising networks and companies of the arbitration. Visitors can end up on the sites that they had no intention to visit and pay for non-intentional and non-valid clicks advertisers. Alternatively, visitors can reach their destination after being diverted through several networks of arbitration, which resulted in the advertisers pay for the public they would otherwise be free of charge. In addition, the malicious software program can be loaded with auto-cliquez on specific ads on publisher sites and networks, even when a browser session is inactive. Video Ad fraud - the malware hijacks an organic search and redirects the user's browser to a web page that displays a video advertising. Video games and the advertiser are required for printing, which can order premiums of $30-$50 per thousand impressions (CPM). View print the Inflation - hidden in the context of the user, the malware can direct the browser of the computer to different pages in the editor that show to display ads to generate fraudulent ad impressions. The user never sees these impressions, but advertisers pay full fare for the impressions apparently valid because a "real" generated visitor traffic.Between November 2010 and may 2011, malware Adometry laboratory followed the system of advertising through many online advertising networks and publishers. While it is difficult to quantify, the frequency with which Lab machines were infected indicates that tens or hundreds of thousands of computers are likely infected, generating millions of invalid clicks and advertising impressions per month. The laboratory has found that a single antivirus program able to identify and prevent the diversion of program ad malicious malware from the system during installation.
